3 slices of sliced ​​bread 2 slices of Peasant Ham or English Ham 2 slices of Grouyere Cheese or Gouda Cheese Homemade mayonnaise (see the recipe in Sauces or follow the link under these ingredients) 1 egg 1 tbsp of evaporated milk 1 tsp of Paprika or Paprika 1 tbsp of Butter with salt Salt and pepper
I suggest the country ham for its smoky flavor and a strong-flavored cheese. Optionally they can include a strips of fried smoked bacon.

Method:
Spread one of the bread slices with mayonnaise. Place a slice of cheese and a slice of ham. Crush the second slice of bread a little and spread with mayonnaise. Place it on top of the sandwich. In a bowl, beat the egg with the milk, paprika, salt and pepper. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt half of the butter. Pass the sandwich through the egg mixture, on both sides, and place in the pan until one side is browned. Lifting the sandwich with a spatula, melt the rest of the butter and brown it on the other side.
Cut it in half and serve it very hot. It can be served with potato chips or French fries and a fresh salad. Believe it or not and if you are daring, you can add a splash of maple syrup on the plate once on the plate. Ham and bacon go very well with honey. They can also vary it with Dijon mustard or jam along with the mayonnaise. You have to have fun in the kitchen and dare to experiment.
